[1165] "But, Master Ānanda, what is the path, what is the practice, for the abandoning of this desire (chanda)?"
"Here, brahmin, a bhikkhu develops the basis for spiritual power (iddhipāda) endowed with concentration (samādhi) due to desire and with volitional formations of striving (padhānasaṅkhāra). He develops the basis for spiritual power endowed with concentration due to energy … concentration due to mind (citta) … concentration due to inquiry (vīmaṃsā) and with volitional formations of striving. This, brahmin, is the path, this is the practice, for the abandoning of that desire."
