[1217] Bhikkhus, there are these four bases of spiritual power (iddhipāda). What four? Here, bhikkhus, a bhikkhu develops the basis of spiritual power endowed with concentration (samādhi) due to desire (chanda) and volitional formations of striving. He develops the basis of spiritual power endowed with concentration due to energy … concentration due to mind (citta) … concentration due to investigation (vīmaṃsā) and volitional formations of striving. These, bhikkhus, are the four bases of spiritual power.
