[1231] Then a number of bhikkhus approached the Blessed One; having approached, they paid homage to the Blessed One and sat down to one side. Sitting to one side, those bhikkhus said this to the Blessed One: "Venerable sir, what is spiritual power (iddhi)? What is the basis for spiritual power (iddhipāda)? What is the development of the bases for spiritual power (iddhipādabhāvanā)? What is the way of practice (paṭipadā) leading to the development of the bases for spiritual power?"
