[1273] "Friend Sāriputta, the four establishments of mindfulness (satipaṭṭhāna) should be entered upon and dwelt in by a bhikkhu who is a trainee (sekha). Which four? Here, friend, a bhikkhu dwells contemplating the body in the body; in regard to feelings (vedanā)… in regard to the mind (citta)… he dwells contemplating dhammas in dhammas — ardent (ātāpī), clearly comprehending, and mindful, having removed covetousness and grief regarding the world. Friend Sāriputta, these four establishments of mindfulness should be entered upon and dwelt in by a bhikkhu who is a trainee."
