[782] "'A trainee (sekha), a trainee,' friend Anuruddha, so it is said. In what way, friend, is one a trainee?"
"It is, friend, because of having developed the four establishments of mindfulness (satipaṭṭhāna) in part that one is a trainee. Which four? Here, friend, a bhikkhu dwells contemplating the body in the body, ardent, clearly comprehending, mindful, having removed covetousness and grief regarding the world. In feelings (vedanā) … in the mind (citta) … he dwells contemplating dhammas in dhammas, ardent, clearly comprehending, mindful, having removed covetousness and grief regarding the world. It is, friend, because of having developed these four establishments of mindfulness in part that one is a trainee."
