[136] Setting at Sāvatthī. Bhikkhus, this is the forerunner, this is the harbinger of the rising of the sun, namely, the dawn's arising (aruṇugga). Even so, bhikkhus, this is the forerunner, this is the harbinger of the arising of the Noble Eightfold Path (ariya aṭṭhaṅgika magga) for a bhikkhu, namely, accomplishment in careful attention (yoniso manasikāra). Bhikkhus, when a bhikkhu is accomplished in careful attention, it may be expected of him that he will develop the Noble Eightfold Path, that he will cultivate the Noble Eightfold Path.
