[411] Bhikkhus, when the sun is rising, this is the forerunner, this is the harbinger of it, namely, the rising of the dawn (aruṇugga). Even so, bhikkhus, for the arising of the seven factors of awakening (bojjhaṅga) in a bhikkhu, this is the forerunner, this is the harbinger, namely, good friendship (kalyāṇamittatā). Bhikkhus, of a bhikkhu who has a good friend it may be expected: he will develop the seven factors of awakening, he will cultivate the seven factors of awakening.
