[138] Setting at Sāvatthī. "Bhikkhus, this is the forerunner and precursor of the rising of the sun, namely, the dawn (aruṇugga). So too, bhikkhus, this is the forerunner and precursor of the arising of the Noble Eightfold Path (ariya aṭṭhaṅgika magga) for a bhikkhu, namely, good friendship (kalyāṇamittatā). Bhikkhus, when a bhikkhu has a good friend, it is to be expected that he will develop the Noble Eightfold Path, that he will cultivate the Noble Eightfold Path."
