[1466] He possesses confirmed confidence (aveccappasāda) in the Buddha: "Thus indeed is that Blessed One … teacher of devas and humans, the Buddha, the Blessed One." He possesses confirmed confidence in the Dhamma and in the Saṅgha: "The Saṅgha of the Blessed One's disciples is practicing well … an unsurpassed field of merit for the world." He possesses the virtues (sīla) dear to the noble ones — unbroken, untorn, unblemished, unmottled, freeing, praised by the wise, ungrasped, conducive to concentration (samādhi).
