[1471] "It is not surprising, Ānanda, that one who has come to be human should die. But if, each time someone has died, you were to approach me and question me about this matter, that would indeed be wearisome for the Tathāgata. Therefore, Ānanda, I will teach an exposition of the Dhamma called the Mirror of the Dhamma (dhammādāsa), endowed with which a noble disciple, if he so wishes, may declare of himself by himself: 'I am one finished with hell (niraya), finished with the animal realm, finished with the realm of ghosts, finished with the plane of misery, the bad destination, the lower world; I am a stream-enterer (sotāpanna), no longer subject to downfall, fixed in destiny, with full awakening as my destination.'"
