[1505] "It is good, friends, to possess confirmed confidence (aveccappasāda) in the Buddha: 'Thus indeed is that Blessed One … teacher of devas and humans, the Buddha, the Blessed One.' Because of possessing confirmed confidence in the Buddha, friends, some beings here are stream-enterers (sotāpanna), no longer subject to the states of deprivation, fixed in destiny, with awakening as their destination. It is good, friends, [to possess confirmed confidence] in the Dhamma … in the Saṅgha. It is good to possess the virtues dear to the noble ones (ariyakanta sīla) — unbroken … conducive to concentration (samādhi). Because of possessing the virtues dear to the noble ones, friends, some beings here are stream-enterers, no longer subject to the states of deprivation, fixed in destiny, with awakening as their destination."
