[1533] "Here, Mahānāma, some person possesses unwavering confidence (aveccappasāda) in the Buddha: 'Thus indeed is that Blessed One … teacher of devas and humans, the Buddha, the Blessed One.' [Likewise] in the Dhamma … in the Saṅgha …. He is not one of joyous wisdom, not one of swift wisdom, and he does not possess liberation (vimutti). With the utter destruction of three fetters (saṃyojana), he is a stream-enterer (sotāpanna), no longer subject to the lower world, fixed in destiny, with awakening as his final goal. This person too, Mahānāma, is freed from hell, freed from the animal womb, freed from the domain of ghosts, freed from the plane of misery, the bad destination, the lower world."
