[1545] Here, Mahānāma, some person is not wholly devoted to and fully confident in the Buddha ... nor in the Dhamma ... nor in the Saṅgha. He is not one of joyous wisdom (hāsapañña), nor of swift wisdom (javanapañña), and he is not endowed with liberation (vimutti). Yet he possesses these qualities: the faculty of faith (saddhindriya) ... the faculty of wisdom (paññindriya); and he has a mere measure of faith in the Tathāgata, a mere measure of affection. This person too, Mahānāma, does not go to hell, does not go to the animal realm, does not go to the domain of ghosts (pittivisaya), does not go to the plane of misery, the bad destination, the lower world.
