[1535] Here again, Mahānāma, a certain person is not possessed of unwavering confidence (aveccappasāda) in the Buddha … nor in the Dhamma … nor in the Saṅgha … He is not one of joyous wisdom (hāsapañña), not one of swift wisdom (javanapañña), and he is not possessed of liberation (vimutti). But he has these qualities: the faculty of faith (saddhindriya) … the faculty of wisdom (paññindriya); and he has mere faith in the Tathāgata, mere affection. This person too, Mahānāma, does not go to hell, does not go to the animal womb, does not go to the realm of ghosts, does not go to the plane of misery, the bad destination, the lower world.
