[1565] One whose faith (saddhā) in the Tathāgata
is unshaken and well established,
and whose virtue (sīla) is good,
cherished by the noble ones and praised;
one who has confidence (pasāda) in the Saṅgha,
and whose view has become straight—
of him they say, 'He is not poor;
his life is not lived in vain.'
Therefore, the wise one, remembering
the teaching of the Buddhas,
should devote himself to faith and virtue,
to confidence and the vision of the Dhamma.
