[1574] Setting at Sāvatthī. The Blessed One said this to the householder Anāthapiṇḍika, who was seated to one side: "Householder, when for a noble disciple five fears and enmities have been stilled, and he is endowed with the four factors of stream-entry (sotāpattiyaṅga), and the noble method (ñāya) has been well seen and well penetrated by him with wisdom, then, if he wishes, he could declare of himself by himself: 'I am one finished with hell (niraya), finished with the animal womb, finished with the domain of ghosts, finished with the plane of misery, the bad destination, the lower world; I am a stream-enterer (sotāpanna), no longer subject to downfall, fixed in destiny, with awakening as my final goal.'"
