[1701] But, Bhikkhus, whatever ascetics or brahmins understand as it really is (yathābhūta): 'This is suffering (dukkha)'; understand as it really is: 'This is the origin of suffering'; understand as it really is: 'This is the cessation of suffering'; understand as it really is: 'This is the way of practice leading to the cessation of suffering' — these, Bhikkhus, are the ascetics or brahmins who are regarded as ascetics among ascetics and regarded as brahmins among brahmins; and those venerable ones, having realized it for themselves with direct knowledge, in this very life dwell having attained the goal of asceticism and the goal of brahminhood.
This is what the Blessed One said. Having said this, the Fortunate One, the Teacher, further said this:
