[1728] On one occasion the Blessed One was dwelling at Rājagaha, on the mountain Gijjhakūṭa. Then the Blessed One addressed the bhikkhus: "Come, bhikkhus, let us go to Paṭibhānakūṭa Peak for the day's abiding." "Yes, venerable sir," those bhikkhus replied to the Blessed One. Then the Blessed One, together with a number of bhikkhus, went to Paṭibhānakūṭa Peak. A certain bhikkhu saw a great precipice on Paṭibhānakūṭa Peak and, having seen it, said this to the Blessed One: "Great indeed, venerable sir, is this precipice; exceedingly great indeed, venerable sir, is this precipice. Is there, venerable sir, another precipice greater and more frightful than this precipice?" "There is, bhikkhu, another precipice greater and more frightful than this precipice." "And what, venerable sir, is that other precipice, greater and more frightful than this precipice?"
