[355] [1] Bhikkhus, depending on the Himavant, the king of mountains, the nāgas grow their bodies and acquire strength. Having grown their bodies and acquired strength there, they descend into the small pools; having descended into the small pools, they descend into the great pools; having descended into the great pools, they descend into the small rivers; having descended into the small rivers, they descend into the great rivers; having descended into the great rivers, they descend into the great ocean. There they attain to greatness and expansiveness of body. Even so, bhikkhus, a bhikkhu, depending on virtue (sīla), established in virtue, developing the seven factors of awakening (bojjhaṅga), cultivating the seven factors of awakening, attains to greatness and expansiveness in dhammas.
