[366] And what, bhikkhus, is the nutriment (āhāra) for the arising of the unarisen investigation of dhammas (dhammavicaya) factor of awakening (bojjhaṅga), and for the development and fulfillment of the arisen investigation-of-dhammas factor of awakening? There are, bhikkhus, wholesome and unwholesome dhammas, blameworthy and blameless dhammas, inferior and superior dhammas, dark and bright dhammas with their counterparts. Frequently giving careful attention (yoniso manasikāra) to them: this is the nutriment for the arising of the unarisen investigation-of-dhammas factor of awakening, and for the development and fulfillment of the arisen investigation-of-dhammas factor of awakening.
