Suttapiṭaka · Saṁyuttanikāya · Mahāvaggasaṁyutta · Vol. 19 · Section 529

[529] "And what, bhikkhus, is the nutriment (āhāra) for the arising of the unarisen factor of awakening (bojjhaṅga) of investigation of dhammas, and for the development and fulfilment of the arisen factor of awakening of investigation of dhammas? There are, bhikkhus, wholesome and unwholesome dhammas, blameworthy and blameless dhammas, inferior and superior dhammas, dhammas with dark and bright counterparts: frequently giving careful attention (yonisomanasikāra) to them — this is the nutriment for the arising of the unarisen factor of awakening of investigation of dhammas, and for the development and fulfilment of the arisen factor of awakening of investigation of dhammas."
