[409] Bhikkhus, just as whatever living beings assume the four postures (iriyāpatha) — at times walking, at times standing, at times sitting, at times lying down — all of them assume those four postures in dependence on the earth, established upon the earth; even so, bhikkhus, a bhikkhu, in dependence on virtue (sīla), established in virtue, develops the seven factors of awakening (bojjhaṅga), cultivates the seven factors of awakening.
