[461] "Venerable sir, the Dhamma has been penetrated (abhisameta) by me, and the path (magga) has been obtained by me, which, when developed and cultivated by me, will lead me, while dwelling in such and such a way, to such a condition that I shall understand: 'Birth (jāti) is destroyed, the holy life (brahmacariya) has been lived, what had to be done has been done, there is no more coming back to this state of existence.'
"Venerable sir, the awakening factor of mindfulness (sati-sambojjhaṅga) has been obtained by me, which, when developed and cultivated by me, will lead me, while dwelling in such and such a way, to such a condition that I shall understand: 'Birth is destroyed, the holy life has been lived, what had to be done has been done, there is no more coming back to this state of existence.' … The awakening factor of equanimity (upekkhā-sambojjhaṅga) has been obtained by me, which, when developed and cultivated by me, will lead me, while dwelling in such and such a way, to such a condition that I shall understand: 'Birth is destroyed, the holy life has been lived, what had to be done has been done, there is no more coming back to this state of existence.'
