Upaḍḍhasutta

[5] "Do not say so, Ānanda! Do not say so, Ānanda! This is the entire holy life (brahmacariya), Ānanda — that is, good friendship (kalyāṇamittatā), good companionship, good comradeship. When a bhikkhu has a good friend, a good companion, a good comrade, this is to be expected of him: he will develop the noble eightfold path (magga), he will cultivate the noble eightfold path."
