[503] Setting at Sāvatthī. Bhikkhus, whatever ascetics or brahmins in the past abandoned the three discriminations (vidhā), all of them did so because the seven factors of awakening (bojjhaṅga) had been developed and cultivated. Whatever ascetics or brahmins in the future will abandon the three discriminations, all of them will do so because the seven factors of awakening have been developed and cultivated. Whatever ascetics or brahmins at present abandon the three discriminations, all of them do so because the seven factors of awakening have been developed and cultivated.
