[896] Bhikkhus, when I directly knew as it really is the origin, the passing away, the gratification (assāda), the danger (ādīnava), and the escape (nissaraṇa) in regard to these five faculties (indriya), then, bhikkhus, in this world with its devas, with its Māras, with its Brahmās, in this generation with its ascetics and brahmins, with its devas and humans, I claimed to have fully awakened to the unsurpassed perfect enlightenment (anuttarā sammāsambodhi). And knowledge (ñāṇa) and vision arose in me: "Unshakable is my liberation (vimutti); this is the last birth; now there is no renewed existence."
