[907] Bhikkhus, so long as I did not directly know, as it really is (yathābhūta), the origin, the passing away, the gratification, the danger, and the escape in regard to these six faculties (indriya), for so long, bhikkhus, I did not claim to have awakened to the unsurpassed perfect enlightenment (anuttarā sammāsambodhi) in this world with its devas, with its Māra, with its Brahmā, in this generation with its ascetics and brahmins, with its devas and humans.
