[953] Bhikkhus, in dependence on a contact (phassa) to be experienced as grief, the faculty of grief (domanassindriya) arises. Being dejected, one understands: 'I am dejected.' One understands: 'With the cessation of that very contact to be experienced as grief, the corresponding feeling (vedanā)—the faculty of grief that arose in dependence on a contact to be experienced as grief—ceases; it subsides.'
