[954] Bhikkhus, in dependence on a contact (phassa) to be experienced as equanimity, the equanimity faculty (upekkhindriya) arises. Being equanimous, one understands: 'I am equanimous.' One understands: 'With the cessation of that very contact to be experienced as equanimity, the corresponding feeling (vedanā) — the equanimity faculty that arose in dependence on the contact to be experienced as equanimity — ceases, it subsides.'
