[980] "And what, bhikkhus, is the method (pariyāya) by reference to which that river comes to be reckoned as just 'two streams'? The water at the northern end of that island and the water at the southern end: this indeed, bhikkhus, is the method by reference to which that river comes to be reckoned as just 'two streams.'"
