[987] Thus have I heard. On one occasion the Blessed One was dwelling at Sāvatthī, in the Eastern Park, in the mansion of Migāra's mother. There the Blessed One addressed the bhikkhus: "Bhikkhus, through the development and cultivation of how many faculties (indriya) does a bhikkhu whose taints (āsava) are destroyed declare final knowledge (aññā) thus: 'I understand: birth is destroyed, the holy life has been lived, what had to be done has been done, there is no more coming to any state of being'?"
