[986] "Good, good, Sāriputta! For those, Sāriputta, by whom this has not been known, not seen, not understood, not realized, not seen with wisdom (paññā) — they would in this matter go by faith in others: that the faculty of faith (saddhindriya), developed and cultivated, plunges into the Deathless (amata), has the Deathless as its destination, the Deathless as its consummation … the faculty of wisdom (paññindriya), developed and cultivated, plunges into the Deathless, has the Deathless as its destination, the Deathless as its consummation. But for those, Sāriputta, by whom this has been known, seen, understood, realized, seen with wisdom — they are free from perplexity in this matter, free from doubt: that the faculty of faith, developed and cultivated, plunges into the Deathless, has the Deathless as its destination, the Deathless as its consummation … the faculty of wisdom, developed and cultivated, plunges into the Deathless, has the Deathless as its destination, the Deathless as its consummation."
