[23] When a field belongs to a single family and is enclosed, having placed the robe within the field, one should stay within the field. If it is unenclosed, one should not go beyond arm's reach (hatthapāsa). When a field belongs to different families and is enclosed, having placed the robe within the field, one should stay within the field, or at the gateway, or one should not go beyond arm's reach. If it is unenclosed, one should not go beyond arm's reach.
