[344] There is an authorization regarding a bhikkhu (bhikkhusammati) that is limited as to offenses (āpatti) but not limited as to families; there is an authorization regarding a bhikkhu that is limited as to families but not limited as to offenses; there is an authorization regarding a bhikkhu that is limited both as to offenses and as to families; there is an authorization regarding a bhikkhu that is limited neither as to offenses nor as to families.
"Limited as to offenses" means: the offenses have been delimited, thus: "He is to be informed of with reference to this many offenses."
"Limited as to families" means: the families have been delimited, thus: "He is to be informed of among this many families."
"Limited both as to offenses and as to families" means: both the offenses have been delimited and the families have been delimited, thus: "He is to be informed of with reference to this many offenses, among this many families."
"Limited neither as to offenses nor as to families" means: neither have the offenses been delimited nor have the families been delimited, thus: "He is to be informed of with reference to this many offenses, among this many families."
