[372] If he prompts one not fully ordained to complain, or grumbles [to him], there is an offense of wrongdoing (dukkaṭa).
If, wishing to disparage, wishing to bring disrepute upon, wishing to embarrass one fully ordained who has not been appointed by the Saṅgha as assigner of lodgings (senāsanapaññāpaka), or designator of meals (bhattuddesaka), or distributor of rice-gruel (yāgubhājaka), or distributor of fruit (phalabhājaka), or distributor of non-staple food (khajjabhājaka), or dispenser of minor items (appamattakavissajjaka), he prompts one fully ordained or one not fully ordained to complain, or grumbles, there is an offense of wrongdoing.
If, wishing to disparage, wishing to bring disrepute upon, wishing to embarrass one not fully ordained — whether appointed by the Saṅgha or not appointed — as assigner of lodgings, or designator of meals, or distributor of rice-gruel, or distributor of fruit, or distributor of non-staple food, or dispenser of minor items, he prompts one fully ordained or one not fully ordained to complain, or grumbles, there is an offense of wrongdoing.
If, the formal act being illegitimate (adhammakamma), he perceives it as a legitimate act (dhammakamma), there is an offense of wrongdoing. If, the formal act being illegitimate, he is doubtful, there is an offense of wrongdoing. If, the formal act being illegitimate, he perceives it as an illegitimate act, there is an offense of wrongdoing.
