[371] When the act is legitimate (dhammakamme)¹, and he perceives it as a legitimate act, in causing [others] to complain (ujjhāpanake) and in criticizing (khīyanake), there is an offense of pācittiya. When the act is legitimate, and he is in doubt, in causing [others] to complain and in criticizing, there is an offense of pācittiya. When the act is legitimate, and he perceives it as an illegitimate act, in causing [others] to complain and in criticizing, there is an offense of pācittiya.
