[642] When the legal act is legitimate, and one perceives it as a legitimate act, if he reopens it, there is an offense of pācittiya. When the legal act is legitimate, but one is doubtful about it, if he reopens it, there is an offense of wrong-doing (dukkaṭa). When the legal act is legitimate, but one perceives it as an illegitimate act, if he reopens it, there is no offense.
When the legal act is illegitimate, but one perceives it as a legitimate act, there is an offense of wrong-doing. When the legal act is illegitimate, and one is doubtful about it, there is an offense of wrong-doing. When the legal act is illegitimate, and one perceives it as an illegitimate act, there is no offense.
