[491] **Out-of-turn meal (paramparabhojana)** means: having been invited with one of the five [kinds of] meals, one sets that aside and eats another meal, one of the five meals — this is called an out-of-turn meal.
**Except at the proper occasion (aññatra samayā)** means: setting aside the occasion.
**A time of illness (gilānasamaya)** means: he is not able, seated at a single sitting, to eat as much as he needs. [Thinking,] "It is a time of illness," he may eat.
**The time of giving robes (cīvaradānasamaya)** means: when the kaṭhina has not been spread, the last month of the rains; when the kaṭhina has been spread, five months. [Thinking,] "It is the time of giving robes," he may eat.
**The time of making robes (cīvarakārasamaya)** means: when a robe is being made. [Thinking,] "It is the time of making robes," he may eat.
Except at the proper occasion, if he accepts [food] thinking, "I shall eat," there is an offense of wrong-doing (dukkaṭa). For every mouthful swallowed, there is an offense entailing expiation (pācittiya).
