[519] "Whoever" means: whoever, of whatever sort … . "Bhikkhu" means: … — this is the one intended in this sense as "bhikkhu."
"Fine foods of such a kind" means fine foods of the sort described.
"Not sick" means one for whom it is comfortable without fine foods.
"Sick" means one for whom it is not comfortable without fine foods.
If one who is not sick requests [fine foods] for his own benefit, there is an offense of wrong-doing (dukkaṭa) in the effort [of requesting]. If, upon obtaining it, he accepts it, thinking, "I shall eat it," there is an offense of wrong-doing. For each act of swallowing, there is an offense of pācittiya.
