[622] There is no offense: if he uses it after having applied [the mark]; if the mark of allowability (kappa) has been lost; if the place where the mark was made has worn away; if what has been left unmarked is sewn together with what has been marked; in the case of a patch (aggaḷa); of a border strip (anuvāta); of an edge-binding (paribhaṇḍa); if he is mad; if he is the first offender.
