[826] Origin at Sāvatthī (Sāvatthīnidānaṃ). Now at that time the group-of-six bhikkhus received almsfood (piṇḍapāta) without care, as if wishing to throw it away. …
"I will receive almsfood with care" — thus the training is to be undertaken.
Almsfood should be received with care. Whatever bhikkhu, out of disrespect, receives almsfood without care, as if wishing to throw it away, incurs an offense of wrong-doing (dukkaṭa).
There is no offense: for one acting unintentionally, for one without mindfulness, for one who does not know, for one who is ill, in emergencies, for one who is insane, or for the first offender (ādikammika).
