[850] Origin at Sāvatthī. Now on that occasion the group-of-six bhikkhus ate making a smacking (capucapu) sound … "The training is to be observed thus: 'I will not eat making a smacking sound.'"
One should not eat making a smacking sound. Whatever bhikkhu, out of disrespect, eats making a smacking sound, commits an offense of wrongdoing (dukkaṭa).
There is no offense (anāpatti): if it is unintentional; if he is unmindful; if he does not know; if he is ill; in emergencies; if he is insane; if he is the first offender.
