[430] [184] Bhikkhus, these two dhammas lead to the non-decline of a bhikkhu who is a learner (sekha). What two? Non-anger (akkodha) and non-grudging (anupanāha) … non-detraction (amakkha) and non-insolence (apaḷāsa) … non-envy (anissā) and non-avarice (amacchariya) … non-deceit (amāyā) and non-hypocrisy (asāṭheyya) … moral shame (hiri) and moral dread (ottappa). These, bhikkhus, are the two dhammas that lead to the non-decline of a bhikkhu who is a learner.
