[485] Bhikkhus, when virtuous ones gone forth (pabbajitā) dwell in dependence on a village or town, the people there generate much merit (puñña) in three ways. In which three? By body, by speech, and by mind. Bhikkhus, when virtuous ones gone forth dwell in dependence on a village or town, the people there generate much merit in these three ways.
