[54] Bhikkhus, if a bhikkhu cultivates a mind of loving-kindness (mettacittaṃ āsevati) even for the mere duration of a finger-snap (accharāsaṅghāta), this bhikkhu, bhikkhus, is called one who dwells not devoid of jhāna, who carries out the Teacher's teaching, who complies with the instruction, and who does not eat the country's almsfood in vain — how much more, then, those who cultivate it abundantly!
