[208] Bhikkhus, if a bhikkhu develops the first jhāna (paṭhamaṃ jhānaṃ) even for the mere duration of a finger-snap, this bhikkhu, bhikkhus, is said to dwell not devoid of jhāna, to be one who carries out the Teacher's teaching, one who complies with his instruction, and one who does not eat the country's almsfood in vain — how much more, then, those who cultivate it abundantly!
