[67] Bhikkhus, I do not see even one other thing on account of which unarisen unwholesome states (akusalā dhammā) arise, or arisen wholesome states (kusalā dhammā) decline, so much as this, bhikkhus: careless attention (ayoniso manasikāra). Bhikkhus, for one who attends carelessly, unarisen unwholesome states arise, and arisen wholesome states decline.
