[205] "Bhikkhus, I shall teach you the bad person (asappurisa) and the person worse than a bad person; the good person (sappurisa) and the person better than a good person. Listen to it. …
"And what, bhikkhus, is the bad person? Here, bhikkhus, a certain person is of wrong view (micchādiṭṭhi), of wrong thought, of wrong speech, of wrong action, of wrong livelihood, of wrong effort, of wrong mindfulness, and of wrong concentration. This, bhikkhus, is called the bad person.
"And what, bhikkhus, is the person worse than a bad person? Here, bhikkhus, a certain person is himself of wrong view and encourages another in wrong view; he is himself of wrong thought and encourages another in wrong thought; he is himself of wrong speech and encourages another in wrong speech; he is himself of wrong action and encourages another in wrong action; he is himself of wrong livelihood and encourages another in wrong livelihood; he is himself of wrong effort and encourages another in wrong effort; he is himself of wrong mindfulness and encourages another in wrong mindfulness; he is himself of wrong concentration and encourages another in wrong concentration. This, bhikkhus, is called the person worse than a bad person.
"And what, bhikkhus, is the good person? Here, bhikkhus, a certain person is of right view (sammādiṭṭhi), of right thought, of right speech, of right action, of right livelihood, of right effort, of right mindfulness, and of right concentration. This, bhikkhus, is called the good person.
"And what, bhikkhus, is the person better than a good person? Here, bhikkhus, a certain person is himself of right view and encourages another in right view; he is himself of right thought and encourages another in right thought; he is himself of right speech and encourages another in right speech; he is himself of right action and encourages another in right action; he is himself of right livelihood and encourages another in right livelihood; he is himself of right effort and encourages another in right effort; he is himself of right mindfulness and encourages another in right mindfulness; he is himself of right concentration and encourages another in right concentration. This, bhikkhus, is called the person better than a good person."
