[207] "Bhikkhus, I will teach you the bad person (pāpa) and the one who is worse than the bad; the good person (kalyāṇa) and the one who is better than the good. Listen to that. …
"And what, bhikkhus, is the bad person? Here, bhikkhus, a certain person is one who destroys life (pāṇātipātī) … is one of wrong view (micchādiṭṭhika). This, bhikkhus, is called the bad person.
"And what, bhikkhus, is the one who is worse than the bad? Here, bhikkhus, a certain person himself destroys life and encourages another in the destruction of life … himself holds wrong view and encourages another in wrong view. This, bhikkhus, is called the one who is worse than the bad.
"And what, bhikkhus, is the good person? Here, bhikkhus, a certain person abstains from the destruction of life … is one of right view (sammādiṭṭhika). This, bhikkhus, is called the good person.
"And what, bhikkhus, is the one who is better than the good? Here, bhikkhus, a certain person himself abstains from the destruction of life and encourages another in abstinence (veramaṇī) from the destruction of life … himself holds right view and encourages another in right view. This, bhikkhus, is called the one who is better than the good."
