[72] Bhikkhus, a bhikkhu who possesses four dhammas is one practising the unimpeachable path (apaṇṇakapaṭipadā), and the groundwork has been laid by him for the destruction of the taints (āsava). Which four? The thought of renunciation (nekkhammavitakka), the thought of non-ill will (abyāpādavitakka), the thought of harmlessness (avihiṃsāvitakka), and right view (sammādiṭṭhi). Bhikkhus, a bhikkhu who possesses these four dhammas is one practising the unimpeachable path, and the groundwork has been laid by him for the destruction of the taints.
